I. Overview
The De La Salle Health Sciences Campus Library is one of the autonomous libraries in the De La Salle Phils. Like the other De La Salle libraries, it is guided by the gospel values of St. John Baptist de La Salle on the values of Religio, Mores and Cultura. And as a member of the La Sallian Family committed to the foundation of Christian achievers for God and country, the HSC Library supports the objectives of providing excellent health care, research and community service for the improvement of life and society. Therefore, it endeavors to support the curriculum of the different colleges by providing the best resources, adequate facilities, equipment and personnel to meet the instructional, research and information needs of its users and patrons. The HSC Library also aims to provide a quiet, wholesome, and user-friendly environment to stimulate the inquisitive mind for learning.

The HSC Library is committed to providing quality library and information services to support and enhance the teaching, and curricular offerings and programs of the De La Salle Health Sciences Campus in its role as provider of quality and excellent health education.

The De La Salle Health Sciences Campus Library strives to be an innovative partner in the achievement of the university’s aim to become a world class institution dedicated to the delivery of excellent education, health care, research and community service for the improvement of life in society.
Furthermore, it envisions itself as the foremost resource center in Region IV in terms of collection, services and facilities in medical and allied health.

III. LIBRARY SERVICES
Reference
Librarians and library assistants are available for consultation and can assist library users in their research and use of information services.
Referral
Referral letters are issued to researchers to source out materials from other libraries in case such holdings are not available in the HSC Library. The HSC Library is also accepting other researchers from other schools. NOCEI member schools do not need to pay a library fee for their visit.
Orientation
Librarians conduct library orientation to freshmen and new faculty once a year or when the need arises. Current Awareness The HSC Library routes listing of newly acquired resources to the different departments and colleges. Bulletin boards are also available for announcements, lists of new books, delinquent borrowers and other announcements.
Document delivery
Books or articles are delivered to the faculty upon request or access can be made by internet, online databases, or email.
Elib
The HSC Library has provided computer workstations and ports for laptops for the encoding and research needs of the academic community.
IV. COLLECTIONS
Filipiniana Collection - This contains printed materials on various subjects about the Philippines, authored by a Filipino, or published in the Philippines
Periodical Collection - This includes both local and foreign journals, magazines and newspapers. Current periodicals are displayed in the magazine racks. Non current issues are already bound.
Reference Collection - This refers to encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, yearbooks, biographical indexes, directories, bibliographies, corporate files, vertical files, government issuance, university catalogs and the La Salliana circulation collection.
Reserve Collection - This contains books and other printed materials which had been designated by faculty members as required reading for their courses.
Basic Sciences – This is a collection of books about Human Anatomy, Microbiology, Physiology Biochemistry, Botany, Physics, Chemistry and other sciences which are related to the study and teaching of the health sciences courses.
Medical Collection – This includes printed materials on various specialties under medicine. Examples are Surgery, Internal Medicine, ENT, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pharmacology, etc.
Nursing Collection – This includes printed materials about nursing education, management, research, practice and other matters regarding the study and teaching of nursing.
RT Collection – This includes printed collection about radiological sciences, radiological techniques and theories, and other matters regarding the study and teaching of radiation technology.
PT Collection – This includes printed collection about physical therapy, sports medicine and rehabilitation.
Arts and Sciences Collection - These are books on the arts, religion, communication, languages and literature, philosophy etc.
CD-ROM Collection – This includes medical, allied health, arts and sciences information in CD-ROM format.
Theses Collection – This includes research projects, undergraduate and graduate theses made by DLS-HSC students and faculty.
V. CIRCULATION POLICIES
Issuing and returning of borrowed library materials are done at the Circulation Section found at the different library units.
All DLS HSC borrowers must present valid bar-coded ID and the book/s for proper issuance.

Inspect the book/s you wish to borrow for missing/mutilated pages. The borrower will be held accountable for failure to report missing/mutilated pages.

Present the book/s you wish to borrow and your valid bar-coded ID.

Borrowers are required to return the books on the exact due date to avoid penalty.
Maximum number of books that can be borrowed :
Fulltime Faulty and Administrative officers : 7 books (5 circulation and 2 overnight books)
Students : 4 books (3 circulation books and 1 overnight book)
Non-teaching (2 circulation books and 1 overnight book)
Overdue Notices
1. Overdue notices will be posted at the bulletin board of the library to remind all library users.
2. Monthly overdue notices will also be sent to respective colleges.
3. The Library will require students to respond to these notices by returning the overdue books or by informing the library if an error has been committed.
Lost Books
1. If an item is lost, the library should be notified immediately. Overdue fines continue to be assessed until notification is received.
2. All library patrons, including faculty members are responsible for the replacement of the lost items plus the accumulated overdue fines.
3. Lost books must be replaced with the same title, edition & author. If the first condition is not possible, a book on the same subject or closely related subject may serve as a replacement provided that it is the most recent edition.
4. In case the lost book is no longer available, the decision to accept the replacement book is determined by the Head Librarian.
5. If the patron found the book after being declared or reported lost and returns it, and if the book is in acceptable condition, the patron will be required to pay only the accumulated overdue fine.
6. Replacement charges must be paid for each lost book.
Fines
1. No borrower is allowed to use the library and its resources unless he/she has settled all accounts due to the library.
2. A fine of ten peso (P10.00) per day for circulation bookswhile twenty pesos (P20.00) per day for overnight books will be charged.
3. Faculty members are also obliged to pay the corresponding amount due to his/her overdue book/s.
Borrowers ID Card
1. The validated DLS-HSC barcoded ID Card serves both as your library pass and as borrower’s card.
2. Owner of the lost ID Card will be held accountable and responsible for any library material issued in his/her name. Report lost ID immediately.
3. Lending of ID Card for purposes of any library activity (entrance to the library, borrowing books for others, etc.) is strictly prohibited.
4. The No ID No Entry policy is being strictly implemented in all library units.
